SHINE―Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders
SHINE is a state health insurance assistance program for elder
Floridians. It provides educational materials and free,
unbiased insurance counseling to Florida elders, caregivers and
family members. Their goal is to help elders understand and
receive the health insurance coverage they need through Medicare,
Medicaid, Prescription Assistance, Long-term Care Planning and
Insurance, and other health care issues.
Paul Hall is a SHINE volunteer who works out of the Extension office
in Dade City on Fridays. He answers questions and sets up
face-to-face appointments to discuss issues. There are other
volunteers at different locations across Pasco and the State of
